CALL FOR ARTICLES
The NYCMER InterpreterThe NYCMER Interpreter is the publication of the New York City Museum Educators Roundtable. The goal of The Interpreter is to provide articles of interest and practical use to museum educators in and around New York City.
Beginning in Fall 2003, The Interpreter will be published on-line, available free to all on the NYCMER web site. NYCMER aims to publish four articles per year; articles will be archived and available on-line indefinitely.
- Who can write for The Interpreter?
- We welcome articles from anyone and everyone. Preference will be shown to articles submitted by NYCMER members.
- What types of articles does The Interpreter publish?
- Articles should be 500 to 1,500 words on a topic relevant to the field of museum education. We encourage articles with concrete suggestions for museum education practice. Topics that NYCMER is interested in exploring during the 2003-2004 year include:
- What strategies have you found to be successful in working with early childhood audiences?
- What strategies have you found to be successful in working with adult audiences?
- How have your programs or curricular materials changed in response to the new curriculum implemented by the NYC Department of Education?
- What museum education theorists have influenced your practice most, and how?
- How has your institution established relationships with family audiences?
- What new collaborations have made it possible for you to expand or extend your offerings?
- What creative strategies have you developed and used to market new and continuing education programs?
Book reviews are also welcome.
- When are articles due?
- The Interpreter publishes four articles per year, on a quarterly schedule. Articles that are not chosen for publication for the immediately following issue will continue to be considered for future publication dates, unless otherwise requested. If you are interested in submitting an article or have questions about The Interpreter, please contact the Interpreter editor, Rebecca Shulman Herz .
