Organization Description: The Center for Brooklyn History (CBH) is Brooklyn Public Library's nationally recognized research library and public history institution. Free and open to all, CBH provides visitors with dynamic ways to connect with Brooklyn's story through its historical collections, enlightening programs, educational resources, and wide-ranging exhibitions. Position Description: CBH is seeking a contracted School & Teen Programs Educator to work with the education department. The educator will teach K-12 Field Trips offered Mondays—Thursdays during the school year, lead up to two (2) adult public tours per month, and run CBH's Summer Scholars high school internship program over the summer. The educator will also assist with various education events as needed, including NYC History Day.

Organization Description: A museum and independent research library located in the heart of New York City, the Morgan Library & Museum began as the personal library of financier, collector, and cultural benefactor J. Pierpont Morgan (1837–1913). The Morgan offers the public close encounters with great works of human accomplishment in a setting treasured for its intimate scale and historic significance. Its collections of manuscripts, rare books, music, drawings, and other works of art comprise a unique record of civilization, as well as an incomparable repository of ideas and the creative process. Position Description: The Morgan Library & Museum seeks Museum Educators to lead a variety of programs in Spanish and English across the Education and Public Programs Department. Teaching opportunities primarily focus on K–12 school programs onsite at the Morgan, and include occasional programs offsite at schools across the five boroughs of New York City, weekend family programs and large-scale multigenerational events, and programs geared toward teen, college, and adult audiences. Programs are inquiry and discussion-based and align to best practices in informal learning and engagement. Tours and workshops focus on the Morgan’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, with an emphasis on illuminated and literary manuscripts, drawings, local and world history, and architecture. The number of tours varies based upon school and group requests. During busy periods, an educator may lead two to three K-12 school programs per week during the school year onsite at the Morgan, and will also have an opportunity to lead weekend and evening programs for a range of youth and adult audiences.  Educators are expected to provide weekday morning availability and lead a minimum of 24 programs per year. Required training and onboarding for this position will include both onsite and virtual sessions. Participation in ongoing trainings throughout the year on new exhibitions and teaching strategies will be expected with advance notice. All trainings will be paid.

Position Description: The Center for Brooklyn History seeks to hire a full time, grant-funded Assistant Curator role for three years to assist CBH in developing an ambitious and visionary project: a permanent, multi-floor exhibition dedicated to the rich and inspiring history of Brooklyn. Scheduled to open in 2028, this exhibition will explore Brooklyn’s evolving communities, its role in American history, and its cultural and economic contributions from centuries past to today. A dedicated children’s section will offer interactive experiences to engage young visitors and support our educational programs. Organization Description: As Manhattan’s oldest surviving residence, the Morris-Jumel Mansion, built in 1765, preserves, collects, and interprets history, culture, and the arts to explore inclusive narratives that engage and inspire diverse audiences. One of the nation’s foremost historic house museums, Morris-Jumel Mansion, located in Upper Manhattan, empowers audiences to create relevant contemporary connections to the histories of the Mansion, its collections, the land, and its people, past and present. The Morris-Jumel Mansion has borne witness to much of New York City’s rich and diverse history. Built in 1765 for the Morris family, the original property, located on the ancestral homeland of the Lenape people, comprised fifty modern city blocks. The house would later serve as the headquarters for General George Washington as well as the British military and Hessian troops during the American Revolution. After serving as a tavern for a number of years, Stephen and Eliza Jumel purchased the house in 1810, and embarked on a series of major renovations, reflective of contemporary nineteenth-century tastes. Thanks to the stewardship of the last private owners of the property, Ferdinand and Lillie Earle, the home became a museum in 1904. Position Description: The School & Community Programs Manager leads educational initiatives at Morris-Jumel Mansion, including school, family, and community programs. This public-facing role works closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement creative programming that advances MJM’s mission, increases school and community participation, raises the organization’s visibility, and celebrates the museum’s collection and historical significance. The Manager oversees the full execution of programming for school and community audiences. Responsibilities include targeted outreach to local schools, after-school programs, and community organizations; collaboration with peer historic house institutions; coordination of school tours and family days; and supervision of part-time educators and program volunteers.  Because this role engages directly with diverse audiences, Spanish-language fluency is extremely important. School and community programming at MJM is designed to bring history to life, reach diverse audiences, and support the organization’s mission. The School & Community Programs Manager reports to the Executive Director.

Position Description: The Director of Education leads MCNY’s mission to foster a civically engaged generation of New Yorkers—reaching children at every age, equipping them to engage actively in their communities and city. Partnering with the Chief Curator and Deputy Director, the Director sets the strategy for MCNY’s education programs and leads the operations that bring that strategy to life across K–12, youth, and family audiences, deepening young learners’ connection to New York City and their capacity to participate in shaping it. The Director will be expected to evaluate, refine, and strengthen MCNY’s existing education programs while setting a roadmap for ambitious expansion that elevates the visibility and reach of these programs, deepens the Museum’s relationship with the DOE, and grows the audiences MCNY serves. This role oversees two distinct but complementary program areas: K–12 Learning, encompassing field trips, curriculum development, and teacher professional development; and Youth and Family, encompassing grant-funded youth civics programming and public family programming. The Director works with the Chief Curator and Deputy Director to translate the Museum’s strategic plan into educational experiences that are intellectually rigorous, grounded in New York City’s history and contemporary life, and accessible to diverse audiences across age groups and learning contexts. Reporting to the Chief Curator and Deputy Director, the Director of Education directly manages an Assistant Director (K–12 Learning) and an Assistant Director (Youth and Family Programming), leading a total team of approximately 10 full-time and part-time staff, and works in close collaboration with curatorial, development, marketing, and external affairs colleagues.  The Director also plays a key role in grant stewardship, funder reporting, and relationship management with institutional funders who support education and youth programming. This role involves direct work with students, teachers, families, and young people. Flexibility in schedule is required for occasional weekend and evening programs

Organization Description: The Hudson River Museum is a preeminent cultural institution in Westchester County and the New York Metropolitan area. Situated on the banks of the Hudson River in Yonkers, New York, the HRM’s mission is to engage, inspire, and connect diverse communities through the power of the arts, sciences, and history. The Museum offers engaging experiences for nearly every age and interest, with an ever-growing collection of American art; dynamic exhibitions that range from notable nineteenth-century paintings to contemporary art installations; Glenview, an 1877 house on the National Register of Historic Places; a state-of-the-art Planetarium; and an outdoor Amphitheater. Accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM), the Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting these multidisciplinary offerings, which are complemented by an array of public programs that encourage creative expression, collaboration, and artistic and scientific discovery Position Description: The successful candidate will join the Education Department as a crucial member of the School Programs staff, working directly under the Manager, School Programs, and with the Senior Manager, Planetarium and Science Programs, to lead hands-on workshops, in-gallery tours, and other programs for students and teachers at the Museum. Additional responsibilities will include facilitating STEAM lessons and workshops offsite during visits to local partnership schools and administrative tasks relating to bookings, and communications with groups. The Per Diem STEAM Educator will complete paid training sessions (to be determined based on experience) with Education Staff that focus on inquiry-based learning, touring, and teaching techniques specific to the permanent collection, special exhibitions, Planetarium, and Glenview, an historic home.  The Per Diem STEAM Educator may be asked to assist in testing, contributing to, and evaluating new programs, or K-12 curriculum and have the opportunity to present planetarium programs related to accompanying workshops.

The department collaborates across the organization to empower a diverse public to form their own interpretations and connections to art by telling stories, asking questions, actively making and participating in the artistic process, and offering and listening to multiple perspectives. Programs offered by the department range from artist-driven activations to classes, online courses, studio programs, facilitated gallery explorations, workshops, publications and more. Position Description: Works as part of a cohort that provides a wide range of facilitated experiences both inside and outside of the Museum, including connecting classes to exhibitions and collections, facilitated artmaking workshops, community meetings, interpretive discussions, and online teaching. Provides inclusive inquiry-based teaching with a focus on the power of art and artist to effect individual and social transformation.

Position Description: The Access Programs and Initiatives team develops creative and learning experiences for individuals with disabilities and also facilitates non-clinical community activities to improve mental and physical health, addressing loneliness and social determinants of health. The team also supports the quality and enjoyment of independent visitors by actively working across the institution to remove physical, attitudinal, and informational barriers, ensuring that all visitors can participate in the institution’s programs and services.  Reporting to the Director of Access Programs and Initiatives, the Associate Educator develops a wide array of programs and builds relationships with service organizations, artists, disability advocates, schools, non-profits, and government entities. The Associate Educator works collaboratively to improve the accessibility and welcome of the museum to all and conceives and co-conceives, manages, and facilitates meaningful disability-led programs that provide impactful experiences, attract new audiences, and engender critical conversations.
