Position Description: The Director of Education leads MCNY’s mission to foster a civically engaged generation of New Yorkers—reaching children at every age, equipping them to engage actively in their communities and city. Partnering with the Chief Curator and Deputy Director, the Director sets the strategy for MCNY’s education programs and leads the operations that bring that strategy to life across K–12, youth, and family audiences, deepening young learners’ connection to New York City and their capacity to participate in shaping it. The Director will be expected to evaluate, refine, and strengthen MCNY’s existing education programs while setting a roadmap for ambitious expansion that elevates the visibility and reach of these programs, deepens the Museum’s relationship with the DOE, and grows the audiences MCNY serves. This role oversees two distinct but complementary program areas: K–12 Learning, encompassing field trips, curriculum development, and teacher professional development; and Youth and Family, encompassing grant-funded youth civics programming and public family programming. The Director works with the Chief Curator and Deputy Director to translate the Museum’s strategic plan into educational experiences that are intellectually rigorous, grounded in New York City’s history and contemporary life, and accessible to diverse audiences across age groups and learning contexts. Reporting to the Chief Curator and Deputy Director, the Director of Education directly manages an Assistant Director (K–12 Learning) and an Assistant Director (Youth and Family Programming), leading a total team of approximately 10 full-time and part-time staff, and works in close collaboration with curatorial, development, marketing, and external affairs colleagues.  The Director also plays a key role in grant stewardship, funder reporting, and relationship management with institutional funders who support education and youth programming. This role involves direct work with students, teachers, families, and young people. Flexibility in schedule is required for occasional weekend and evening programs

Accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM), the Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting these multidisciplinary offerings, which are complemented by an array of public programs that encourage creative expression, collaboration, and artistic and scientific discovery Position Description: The successful candidate will join the Education Department as a crucial member of the School Programs staff, working directly under the Manager, School Programs, and with the Senior Manager, Planetarium and Science Programs, to lead hands-on workshops, in-gallery tours, and other programs for students and teachers at the Museum. Additional responsibilities will include facilitating STEAM lessons and workshops offsite during visits to local partnership schools and administrative tasks relating to bookings, and communications with groups. The Per Diem STEAM Educator will complete paid training sessions (to be determined based on experience) with Education Staff that focus on inquiry-based learning, touring, and teaching techniques specific to the permanent collection, special exhibitions, Planetarium, and Glenview, an historic home.  The Per Diem STEAM Educator may be asked to assist in testing, contributing to, and evaluating new programs, or K-12 curriculum and have the opportunity to present planetarium programs related to accompanying workshops.

Programs offered by the department range from artist-driven activations to classes, online courses, studio programs, facilitated gallery explorations, workshops, publications and more. Position Description: Works as part of a cohort that provides a wide range of facilitated experiences both inside and outside of the Museum, including connecting classes to exhibitions and collections, facilitated artmaking workshops, community meetings, interpretive discussions, and online teaching. Reporting to the Director of Access Programs and Initiatives, the Associate Educator develops a wide array of programs and builds relationships with service organizations, artists, disability advocates, schools, non-profits, and government entities. The Associate Educator works collaboratively to improve the accessibility and welcome of the museum to all and conceives and co-conceives, manages, and facilitates meaningful disability-led programs that provide impactful experiences, attract new audiences, and engender critical conversations.

The Museum’s offsite tour guides provide excellent walking tours of sites and neighborhoods in New York City on a part-time basis. We are looking for a hard-working, curious, and engaging storyteller to join our team who will bring the history of the region and its transit system to life. The New York Transit Museum (NYTM) provides walking and offsite tours at transit sites, including Old City Hall station and in neighborhoods throughout the city. Led by the tour guide and organized and supported by tour guides and Museum staff, these tours take place over the course of the year at various times on weekdays and weekends. Offsite tours are a way for the Museum to extend its educational programming to significant locations and sites beyond its walls and offer a variety of experiences.  NYTM offsite tour guides produce, lead, and manage engaging, welcoming, and informative tours to a variety of adult audiences. Offsite tour guides lead programs developed by others and may research and develop tours as needed. They have demonstrated experience engaging with the public and managing tours, providing unique visitor-centered experiences and implementing in creative problem-solving. They have an interest in and willingness to continue learning about Museum engagement, the history of transit in our region, and related content, and are enthusiastic ambassadors of the Museum. This is a part-time position in the Education Department, reporting to the Public Programs Manager.

Organization Description: Poster House is the first museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to the design and history of posters. Opening in June 2019 in New YorkCity, Poster House provides a space for inquiry for all those interested in design, advertising, and public interventions, with an aim to improve designliteracy among the general public. Through its robust permanent collection, progressive rotating exhibitions, community-centered events, andinnovative school programming, Poster House explores what posters say about society and how graphic design continues to impact the world with anemphasis on visual literacy. Position Description: The Educator of Adult Initiatives and Tour Logistics (EAITL) for Poster House oversees the logistics of tours and programs for K-12 grade schoolgroups, college groups, special needs groups, and adults-only groups. The EAITL collaborates with the Manager of Education to research and writetours and coordinate offerings for adult audiences and professional development opportunities. The EAITL will serve as the primary educator able todeliver tours to all audiences served.  This position reports to the Manager of Education. The regular schedule for this role is 10am-6pm Monday-Friday with flexibility for after-hours andweekend work as needed (approximately ten weekend days per year).

Position Description: The part-time STEM Educator at Liberty Science Center (LSC) delivers engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences that spark curiosity and makescience accessible to learners of all ages. The part-time STEM Educator actively delivers interactive programs offsite in schools and communityorganizations, onsite in LSC’s learning environments (including laboratories, galleries, theaters, and public spaces), and virtually. Offsite programdelivery requires driving to schools and partner sites throughout the NJ tri-state region. In addition to program delivery, the part-time STEM Educator helps ensure high-quality setups and maintains safe, inclusive, and engaging learningenvironments. Position Description: The Family Art Project Manager provides creative input and art education guidance for various Education programs and developing art components ofcurricula. The Family Art Project Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the Family Art Project (FAP), one of the Department’s signatureprograms, which immerses children, typically aged 3-8 and their families in the pleasures and wonders of Wave Hill’s gardens, grounds and artexhibitions at Glyndor Gallery through hands-on, nature-based, art activities that encourage creativity and imagination. This program runs year-round,with a drop-in format each weekend. The Manager supervises staff, guest artists, volunteers and manages the Art, Community, Education and Science internship (ACES), a year-round paidprogram for young people. The Manager leads recruitment, training, and mentorship with support from Education staff. In addition, the Manager willwork closely with the Assistant Director of Education to provide creative and pedagogical input and assistance on a variety of interdepartmentalprograms as needed.
